Fleadh Nua Céilí with Striolán Céilí Band
Fleadh Nua Céilí with Striolán Céilí Band on Saturday 27th May. Formed in 2008, The Striolán Céilí Band takes its name from a location which is situated on the Cork, Kerry and Limerick border known locally as “Striolán”. This title is particularly fitting as the band is comprised of eight individuals, who collectively hail from all three counties. Limerick is represented by band leader DJ Curtin on button accordion and melodeon, along with Denis Curtin on fiddle and vocals, both from Mountcollins, and fiddle players Conor O’ Sullivan from Tournafulla and Patricia Wright from Dromcollogher. The Cork contingent is made up of John McNulty on flute, originally from Co. Mayo but now residing in Rockchapel, and Adrian McAuliffe from Freemount on Banjo. Kerry duo, Pat Mulcahy originally from Brosna on drums, and Bridget McCarthy from Moyvane on keyboards make up the last segment of this extremely popular band. All eight individuals have been playing music together for a long number of years eventually forming the band that is in existence today. The Striolán Céilí Band are proving to be a big hit on the set dancing scene performing the length and breadth of the country and considered by many to be one of the top Céilí Bands in Ireland at the present time. We welcome them to Cois na hAbhna for this Fleadh Nua Céilí and look forward to a great night of dancing! Dancing 9.30 – 12.30.
